Although I love Master and Commander, I can't say I liked my inked version of this fanart at all... it was a very quick thing, I think. But I'm not one to leave watercolor paper sitting around un-used! <3 So I used this piece for a variety of experiments, and now I'm quite fond of it.
1. I tried taping down the paper to see if that would stop it from bending--it worked quite admirably, and even made a nice border, haha.
2. I tried doing a light wash, as was previously suggested to me by a fellow member of DA.* I've been wanting to try it for awhile, but didn't want to ruin pieces. However, this one didn't matter so much. X3
*
3. I tried painting with tea!
I think I need to let the tea steep a lot more--I ended up adding brown paint to the wash 'cause I didn't think it was gonna show. ...It sure smelled good, though.
I think Jack came out quite well, but Maturin, oh, Maturin... not only does he have gorilla arms, but his expression! So lackluster! I think I was trying to see if I could illustrate the differences between the two, but... boo. Perhaps I did it too well! XD
