Xeno15 - Yasunori Mitsuda Tribute by Rin-Uzuki Xeno15 - Yasunori Mitsuda Tribute by Rin-Uzuki
One of my works for the Xeno15 Anthology Art book and a tribute to one of the greatest videogame composers of all time, Yasunori Mitsuda!

I've always loved a certain Japanese artist's drawings of Mianga and Elly, and I've forever wanted to be able to create a piece of art even a little bit like their's.

This isn't much in the vein of the artist who inspires me, but I like it all the same!
Can you guys find all the little hidden ouroboros-es? (No idea what the plural of that would be. Ouroborosi?)

I know their heads are disproportionately large, but it's still better than my attempts some years ago. =w= So take that! haha

Let's make a collection of Chrono Cross/Trigger or Ivalice-themed or Princess Bride art next! >w<)/

uwaah, I also want to play mother 2!!!! I started playing it in Japanese a couple weeks ago but haven't had/made time to pick it up again! The games in that series give me such a happy bubbly feeling...

the FF games on the PS1 are some of my very favorites! Which one do you want to play first?

Right ! I already played Mother 1 and 3 and just thinking about these games makes me feels all... I don't know I love this game so much, I can't find words to describe this ! So I'm really excited to play mother 2 !

I'm still not sure, every time I decided on one game, I change my mind, so I reaaaally don't know, I'm lost. Which one of these three would you recommend to me ?

well, FF7 was the first final fantasy game I played, so it has a very special place in my own heart. I guess it depends on what you're in the mood for!

FF7 is a little dark, but has good humor too, and a very nice balance of characters and plot.

FF8 is more mature and darker, a little heavier than FF7. But it still has refreshing environments and a healthy cast of characters.

FF9 is more like the older FF games in that there's a lot of comedy and light-heartedness right off the bat. If you're a fan of the Mother series, you might enjoy FF9 best! However, I feel some of the characters are a little... not exactly weaker, but somehow less deep or interesting than the cast of FF7 or FF8.

They're all definitely worth a spin! And it's not like you've got to play them in order, so if you've got 'em, just pop one in and give it a go, eh?!

Oh gosh, thanks for the answer !

I... guess that I will either start with FF7 or FF8 then. Maybe with FF7, I guess he's the more balanced of the three between humorous and darker moment ? Also, for some reason, I think that I really might like the cast of characters and I'm really curious about them, because I saw so many fanart about them without even knowing about them !

About FF9, I heard some people told me it was actually pretty depressing ? I'm still not sure what I should think about FF9, I hear so much different things about it, it seems some people tend to really like it and some actually told me he was one of the worst FF. But somehow, I still think that I might really enjoy this one, I don't know, I have a pretty good feeling about this one ! But I think I might save it for later !

So I guess I will start with FF7 after all. I just hope I will not change my mind, hehe. But I will definitely play all of them, I was so hard to get them !

Starting with FF7 sounds like a good choice! You could even go in order, then, if you wanted. :-D

I think FF9 isn't as popular outside of Japan because of the way the games were released--if we consider 1-6 (which were all released on the NES and SNES) to all be fairly similar in their graphics, plots, characters and basic fantasy and comedy elements, FF7 and FF8 took a real departure from that route with their 3D graphics and somewhat more mechanic/sci-fi based surroundings. And since these were released on the PS1, they were what many American gamers picked up first (my hypothesis, anyway), and that's why FF7 is one of the most popular games in the States--seemingly in Europe as well?

Well, I guess there's one generation of gamers that seems to value FF6 the most (the ones who grew up on the NES and SNES), then there's one that cherishes FF7 (the Playstation generation), and then there's a really awful generation that values FF10 the most (the PS2 generation), which I can't relate to at all, hahaha.(Sorry if that's you! FF10 was just by far one of the weakest games in my opinion...)

So, wow, this is getting really long-winded, sorry! But it's a topic I'm really interested in. Hope you don't mind if I go on!

So if there's a "FF7-FF8 generation", then those players rebelled against FF9 because it was such a departure from what they understood Final Fantasy games to be--when in fact it was more of a homage to what FF games originally were, which is why I think it did better in Japan, where the fanbase was rooted in the original games.

So I think that accounts for the mixed bag of reactions you've gotten to FF9, but let me say that viewed as a game on it's own, it's very solid and lovable--worth playing just for the environments, music, graphics, and characters.

I realized we also forgot Final Fantasy Tactics! It's a really really good game, but probably only if you enjoy tactical style battles.

Talking with you about all this, I really almost started up a game last night. So close, yet so far!!!

Let me know how FF7 goes for you, okay? <3
And it was hard for you to get them, huh? Does that mean you bought the hard copies? I hope they weren't too expensive! ;w;

naw man it was really awful! You're probably better off imagining it than having seen it in person, haha. If it had been anything respectable I might've tried it again.

haha, high five! I wouldn't have taken you for a fan, Crime!

Sheesh, Princess Bride AND Okage? Man...
you ever drawn any art for The Princess Bride? It would be so interesting to see your take on it!

(Based on your kickass Rico arts for the Xeno book, I imagine you could make a badass Inigo Montoya versus Westley drawing, haha!)

I practically grew up on the movie. Wesley is an incredibly badass hero, and the fight with him and Inigo Montoya is one of my favorites of all time. I also happen to think the Rodents Of Unusual Size are quite adorable.

I've never done any art for it though... it'd be fun, huh? ;)
